Staats Named to Five House Committees in New Term
HARRISBURG – The House Republican Caucus announced its committee assignments this week, naming Rep. Craig Staats (R-Bucks) to five committees for the 2019-20 Legislative Session.
“Late Thursday, I learned that in addition to serving my first term as deputy chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee, I will also serve for the first time on the House Finance Committee,” said Staats. “I am also quite pleased with my reappointments to the House Education, Liquor Control and State Government committees,” he said.
Staats was named deputy chairman of the House Policy Committee in mid-December following caucus leadership elections when members were in Harrisburg getting organized for the new legislative session. The Policy Committee helps shape the focus of major initiatives that are addressed in legislation.
Policy Committee Chairman Donna Oberlander said Staats’ business experience will be an enormous asset to the committee as it moves to develop policies that attract job creators to the Commonwealth and assist communities with policies that spur economic growth and development. Likewise, his work on the House Finance Committee will strengthen his knowledge of state and local taxes and various government programs, adding further depth to the Policy Committee.
