Staats to Host House State Government Committee Hearing on Congressional Redistricting

October 12, 2021

HARRISBURG – On Tuesday, Oct. 19, the House State Government Committee will be holding a hearing, hosted by Rep. Craig Staats (R-Quakertown), to gain input from residents on the congressional redistricting process.

“As a member of the House State Government Committee, I look forward to hosting this hearing,” Staats said. “We are working to make this the most transparent redistricting process by ensuring each of our residents here in Southeastern Pennsylvania and across the Commonwealth have the opportunity to input expectations of specific communities.”

The southeast regional hearing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 1-5 p.m. at Spinnerstown Hotel, 2195 Spinnerstown Road, Sprinnerstown, PA. Those interesting in offering in-person testimony can do so by signing up at PaRedistricting.com. The deadline to sign up to testify at the hearing is Wednesday, Oct. 13. The deadline to submit written testimony is Wednesday, Oct. 13.

The U.S. Census is administrated once every 10 years to gather information, which ultimately determines how many U.S. Representatives are allotted per state, based on population. Following completion of the U.S. Census, each state is to receive the data and conduct a redrawing of congressional districts to reflect equal and fair representations, known as redistricting.

The hearing is one of eight congressional redistricting hearings throughout Pennsylvania.
