HARRISBURG – Rep. Craig Staats (R-Bucks) has recently been appointed to serve on the Commission on Education and Economic Competitiveness for the 2023-24 Legislative Session.
“Preparing our students for a successful future in a highly skilled workforce starts with analyzing our current school system and taking proper steps to provide a world-class education in every corner of the state,” said Staats. “Improving and building upon our educational system will also provide for an economically prosperous and competitive Pennsylvania for years to come.”
The Commission on Education and Economic Competitiveness is a bipartisan 18-month- study on Pennsylvania’s school system. The commission will examine downfalls of the current system, approaches of leading school districts in the Commonwealth and how other school systems around the world compare. The commission will be responsible for creating legislative solutions to further support teachers and students.
“Serving many years on the House Education Committee and as chairman of the Education Subcommittee on Career and Technical Education (CTE), I understand education is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It is imperative we are properly preparing each of our students for the future that best suits their needs and supporting school districts to do just that,” said Staats. “In return, our state will see an economic advantage others have yet to unleash.”
